Yokohama June 17-19 2004

The bay - Yokohama is a port city Lots of glare from the windows on these pictures, it was a gorgeous sunny day Close-up of the ferris wheel, roller coasters... We wanted to ride the coaster, but the park closed at 9pm every night and wasn't open Thursday so it just didn't work out Looking down at the ship

Looking right (east) Afternoon now, trying to reduce the glare on these shots Looking further east, with the right-bottom being the JR Sakuragicho train station (I'm sure I spelled that wrong :-) Gorgeous bay, much of this area is very new

Typical carnival The pink Chinook flying around The log ride doesn't throw much water, compared to the ones at the big US amusement parks More amusement park rides across the canal

Typical carnival "put the ball through the hoop and win a stuffed animal", the big prizes were inflated Tiggers (one visible) and Poohs and Pink Panthers The pink "diving coaster" goes through a hole in the middle of the water around the log ride Chinook flying around The log ride doesn't throw much water, compared to the ones at the big US amusement parks More amusement park rides across the canal

The coaster in motion Top middle - they also have a 'Spinning Coaster' with yellow track that goes back and forth side to side One of the better shots of the Park Hotel Looks like an abandoned dockyard. Interesting in that with all the water and humidity, this is the only building I saw with ivy growing on it. Very few people wear sunglasses. Everyone carries an umbrella for the rain anyways, so it makes a great sunshade too!

Lots of scooters and motorcycles, and a few big SUVs on the roads Mostly normal-sized sedans and the smaller cars tho. Compare the side mirrors on the near car with those of the far taxi A better shot of a taxi with the way-forward side mirrors - they don't stick out as far for the narrow streets? Every taxi has its mirrors this way. The ship is both a museum, and teaches how to sail Inflatable kid slide
