Hotel brochure has a map of how to get there. Sue only managed to get us lost twice on the way there. Thank god for the iPhone with GPS with cell data and maps, to locate us. Hotel description of the hiking trail. 4km sounds about right. Sidwalk on the way there? Nope street with cars, uneven grass with trees, and a very deep drainage ditch. We completely missed the start of the hiking trail the first time. Just uphill a smidge from this sign... Is this picnic bench. Go to the picnic bench...

Banner for a 10k run coming up! Bathrooms... Woo-hoo about 30m up from the picnic table, we're in the right place. Nore sure what this building is, maybe a ranger station? Can't miss this awesome sign. We're going right, the hard-to-get-lost way. Right is uphill. They estimate 30 minutes up, took us 28.

Left is flat, with more feral dogs wandering. Doesn't look it, but road up is steep. Here the road ends and a gorgeous sign marks the start of the hiking trail. Woo-hoo steps uphill! We're on the way up! Steps and more steps.

VERY nice signs! Stone benches every 5-10 minutes to take a rest break. and water break! It is 90F and 80% humidity. We're both dripping with sweat. About halfway up, bathrooms! water tank next to the bathrooms - fllush toilets! Another great sign.

Steps go up and up... Steps are held in place with lots of huge nails / stakes. Bob heading up. Pretty spiderweb. Ants running along a drain pipe alongside the trail. A pretty lizard is very well camofaluged with only its tail showing below the pipe.

In a rare path of sun, a butterfly likes Bob's bright yellow shirt. Beautiful butterfly Bob's doing a selfie of him and butterfly with his camera :-) Photos of photos.

Again great signage on this trail! There are a ton of other trails criss-crossing up here... Butterfly then moved to a plant. Close-up of the butterfly - gorgeous! We're almost there! Yup we're at the top!

Mix of kids playground equipment and exerise equipment. Even more workout equipment. And concrete floor. And railings. And roof. We're betting all this was hauled up by human power, just like building all those steps... Looking south-east to Second Bridge to mainland.

At the far right is the airport, east end of runway just barely visible. zoomed in so runway is visible here. And another view of airport through a break in the trees. Around the back side, can just make out our Hotel Equitorial through the trees. Danger this trail is closed.

Some tourists from Indonesia wanted their picture with us. We got a picture of all of us too :-) Fun! Up the steps is a water tank. It feeds the water cooler / water fountain below it. Not sure it's working now, but amazing what has been hauled up this hill.

Perlis Happy Run Club Not tired of the view yet. More pretty flowers Flower pots and watering can. Yes at the top of the hill! Starting down. We spent ~45 minutes at the top. Going down took ~15 minutes compared to 28 going up.

Caught up to these folks going down. Back at the hotel, more decorations for Chinese New Year coming up. SPOT track from our hotel, no tracks on the roads, and no tracks on the climb up or down in the heavy jungle cover. Pretty much only tracks at the very top in the sun. Good to know where SPOT doesn't work! Heck i'm impressed it works at all everywhere in the world!
