Nice bus! Only 3 seats wide so tons of room. Waving goodbye to Raj and Nancy who have been the most incredible awesome hosts! Typical view out the coach window - farms of palm trees. Occasional clear-cut and ?burn? of an area of palms. Malaysia is one of the worlds largest producers of palm oil. More hills to the east.

"malay" means hilly and they do mean it! Interesting shaped hills to the west Our SPOT tracker track from north of KL up to Penang, with google's terrain map on, shows how hilly the country is. Steep hills to the side of the road are terraced and then planted to help with erosion.

Where the roadside goes through a rock cut, still terraced with both rain gutters to direct the flow, and ladders to climb up to maintain the terracing. Crossing the bridge to the island of Penang, ships in the straits Stairs down to a ballroom at the Equitorial Hotel, bride in her white gown down below about to join the guests. View from the hotel balcony looking east/northeast down to the golf course and off in the distance, the north bridge to the mainland.
