One of the few reminders of the horrific floods that came through here just two months ago in June. Benches aren't rebuilt yet but most everything else is already rebuilt or under construction. Ducks and swans! Easy to see this was once a walled fortress city with only a few entrances.

Flood high water marks over the centuries. This year isn't marked yet. June 2013 is higher than any marked, at the top of the dark section. Tour guide gave us a fun history of the city and short walking tour.

  IM001319 IM001320 IM001321 IM001322 IM001323

Notice between the windows, the plaque, and string hanging. River is down the road. Plaque is flood of 1954. Bottom of string is June 2013 flood :-( Yes, first two floors of these buildings were completely flooded. Further up the street from the building with markings. We're standing at the high water mark.

Guide explains this was a quarantine area during the plague, food was tossed in through the small door in the door. Photos of this building having been flooded.
