On the morning of the 28th, we all leave Queenstown. It snowed up on the peaks last night. Gorgeous! close-up As we leave the house and head down to Queenstown, a parasailer is up with a bright yellow parasail.

It's fun (Sue did it in Cozumel). The boat pulling him is heading into harbor and pulling him down to land. Then as we approach the airport, we see a paraglider too. Almost lose sight of him behind a cloud. From the road leaving Queenstown, the mountains are still beautiful.

Sue does not want to leave. She keeps taking pictures hoping she can delay her departure. At the airport (Frankton, just outside Queenstown). The police here are very nice. A neat old plane hanging in Queenstown airport. Looks like it was a workhorse! Bob likes the red lever to put the skis up and down.

Fun toys taxi in and out. Here's a Caravan. 206's refuel. Our 737 lands. The smoke circle to the far right is from his tires touching down. It'll be a 2-hour flight from Queenstown to Auckland (compared to a 3-day drive). Little 172's taxi in and out.

Very fun toy! Yet another 206. Yet Another 206 We weren't sure at the time what this fixed gear twin was, but we found out later in Auckland airport (see below). YA 206

We take off to the south-west, Queenstown to the right. Looking at town, in the middle notice the empty spot with road curving uphill from the lake. To the left (south) and uphill is Fernhill. Up that hill is where the house we rented is. Turning northbound Looking down on the lake - almost the same angle as we had from the house. Snow on the mountain tops from last night.

Leaving the south island. Mt Cook on the left side, light blue Lake Pukaki on the right. Just to the right of the wingtip is dark blue Lake Tekapo. Close-up of Mt Cook. Great photography from Bob!
